Support Worker-Cashel Day Service– 31hours per week
MooreHaven was founded in 1981, to provide a day service for adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Service Users attend from within a 30-mile radius of Tipperary Town, in counties Tipperary and Limerick, and have grown to about 120 today. MooreHaven is an integral part of Tipperary and employs up to 90 full- and part-time skilled service providers. Services provided have grown significantly over the years and now encompass Day Activation, Supported Work/Employment, Day Services, Training Programmes, and HIQA-registered Residential & Respite facilities.
Our Mission is to promote and support independent living and community integration, personal development and work opportunities for people attending our services.
Support Worker – Permanent- Cashel Day Service
31 hours per week
Full-Time
To support service users in their Day Service Programme.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
-To contribute in a respectful and positive way to our service user’s well-being and development, treating all individuals availing of our service with dignity and respect.
-To assist service user(s) in developing their Person Centred Plan and in achieving their goals.
-To assist the service user(s) to be self-reliant and to foster their level of independence.
-To provide direct practical help, support and guidance to individuals in their activities of daily living.
-Develop community networks and encourage natural circles of support and actively search for opportunities for the person to make personally satisfying contributions through involvement in valued roles in their community.
-To attend training that is offered to you, so that you fully understand and work with all the procedures and guidelines within the organisation.
-Ensure that all accidents/incidents are reported promptly to the line manager.
-To report any concerns you have for the safety and welfare of the service users of the MooreHaven Centre to the designated officer, in line with the National Policy, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults.
-To provide reports to their line manager if requested and to keep daily records.
Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge required
A strong commitment to caring and an empathetic understanding of those with an intellectual disability are essential attributes for this role. The successful candidate should possess excellent people skills, be flexible and have experience with rapid and complex changing work environments.
Requirements
QQI Level 5 in Healthcare (or equivalent).
6 months’ experience supporting adults with an intellectual disability.
Full clean Irish/EU driving licence (learners with test booked considered).
