Job Description

MooreHaven is seeking dedicated and caring Social Care Workers to join our brand-new Respite Service opening in May 2026 in Tipperary Town.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service from day one, supporting adults with intellectual disabilities in a person-centred, home-like environment where dignity, respect, choice, and independence are at the heart of everything we do.

Service Details

• Opening May 2026
• Operating Tuesday to Saturday
• Closed Sundays and Mondays
• 24-hour shifts, including sleepovers
• Sleepover allowance provided
• 28.5 hours per week (Part-Time Permanent Contract)
• Flexible schedule; must be available for evenings, nights, and flexible shifts

Key Responsibilities

• Support residents with daily living and personal care
• Promote independence through individualised programmes
• Facilitate social, recreational, and community integration activities
• Foster a home-like atmosphere within the respite service
• Act as a Key Worker for residents where required
• Administer and record prescribed medication in line with policy
• Undertake light housekeeping duties, encouraging residents’ participation
• Maintain accurate records and reports
• Drive residents safely in MooreHaven transport as needed
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and the multidisciplinary team

Requirements

• Level 5 or higher Social Care / Healthcare qualification (QQI or equivalent)
• Minimum 6 months’ experience supporting adults with an intellectual disability
• Full clean Irish/EU driving licence (learners with test booked will be considered)
• Good administrative and IT skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, flexibility, and ability to work in dynamic environments
• Commitment to person-centred, high-quality care
• Available for evenings, nights, 24-hour shifts, and sleepovers
